How To Take a Goddess Bath

What is a Goddess Bath?

Incense

A Goddess Bath also referred to as (Spiritual Baths, Aura Baths, or Love Baths) is a feminine, bath time ritual that could be used used to cleanse your aura, body, mind, & spirit.  Unlike a normal bath, it is used with intention and with the aid of metaphysical support from crystals, bath salts, flowers, fruit, herbs, incense, essential oils and/or candles.  It's purpose is not to cleanse you in the physical sense, but in a spiritual sense.  So before you prepare a Goddess Bath, you should cleanse your body physically using your normal bath time habits and do a Goddess Bath secondarily. You also want to make sure that your bathroom and bathtub and your surroundings are thoroughly cleaned before the bath.

Who can take a Goddess Bath?

Ritual bathing has been done for centuries and anybody can take them. It is not a closed practice to take a Goddess Bath. It is also not restricted to certain creeds, cultures, religions, or sexes. If you possess a tub or a basin, water, and the ability to set intentions, you can take a Goddess Bath.

When Should I Take a Goddess Bath?

Incense

One of the reasons why I chose spirituality over religion is because of the freedom spirituality gave me to explore what I deemed as good for me. There are a lot of recommendations on when to take a spiritual bath, but ultimately when a spiritual bath should be taken should be decided by you. Personally, I choose to take spiritual baths whenever I have come into close contact with an energy I don't want to linger, as a cord-tying method (from exes or previous sexual partners), whenever I want to lift my spirit, during certain moon phases, or when I'm tying my Melaneign Waistbeads. Regardless of when you chose to do your Goddess Bath, you want to do it routinely.

How Do I Prepare a Goddess Bath?

Incense

To prepare a Goddess Bath you first need to determine why you want to take one. The reason behind your Goddess Bath is called your Intention. Are you trying to attract money, love, or positivity? Are you removing bad energy and/or company? Are you honoring a higher being? Or are you simply just preparing your body to tie new waistbeads or other guided adornments? After you decide your intention, then you can start collecting the necessities and ingredients for your bath.

The three things (necessities) that I recommend you have for every type of Goddess Bath is candles or tealights, a smudge stick (such as palo santo or sage), and some flowers. The reason why I suggest these as necessities is because whenever I'm doing anything energetically, I like to involve all 4 elements (fire, water, air, & earth) in some way or fashion. The candles/tealights are fire, and air is the smoke created from the smudging, earth is the flower.

Now, the ingredients that you choose for your Goddess Bath, should be based on your intentions or how you want to feel after the bath. I have Goddess Bath recipes that I have personally created depending on what I need at the time. I incorporate things like essential oils, bath salts such as Epsom salt or pink Himalayan salt, honey, dried herbs, and fruit such as lemon, oranges, or grapefruit, and healing crystals. After reading this article, check out my blog "Energizing Goddess Bath Recipe" for a recipe of one of my uplifting baths that I do routinely. If you are new to Goddess Baths or are not comfortable with adding everything that I mentioned, you do not have to. You can keep your baths and simple or as minimal as you would like. The only things that truly matters is your intention and how you intend to execute the bath considering those intentions.

Run the bath water and start by setting the mood and intention for your bath. You can do this by lighting your candles and cleansing the aura of the bathroom with your smudge stick or sage. You can also add meditation music, affirmations (based on your intention), or chanting to energetically raise the vibration of your session. While your bath is running you can begin adding your bath salts, honey, flowers, dried herbs, fruit, essential oils or whatever you're adding to the bath.

Once your bath is prepared, layout your healing crystals around the edge of your tub, turn off your bathroom lights and then get into your bath. You should soak in the bath for at least 30 minutes, keeping your intentions present in your mind. Relax but do not to fall asleep. You can also read a book or drink some wine. When you are done soaking in your bath remove yourself from the bath and then drain the water. (Do not drain the water while you are in the bath as it is counterproductive.) Then remove and dispose of the herbs and flowers that are left in the tub.

After the Goddess Bath, it's a good idea to reflect and journal about your experience.  To shop some great Goddess Bath products that I use on the regular, check out my Amazon Faves list.
